Welcome!

I provide individual counseling to adults and adolescents who want a positive, holistic approach to treating their anxiety, trauma, and depression. I also help people work through issues related to life transitions, self-development and discovery, and parenting challenges. Clients I work with are often struggling with worry, rumination, low self-esteem, lack of motivation or interest in life, and intense emotional reactions.

My approach is an integration of strengths-based, mindfulness, and trauma informed approaches. During therapy, I will help you set goals for how you would like your life to change. These goals will become our “roadmap,” giving us direction and focus. We will explore what gives your life meaning in order to help you establish new ways of thinking and acting that are in line with your values. I will help you develop greater self-compassion and an ability to observe and trust your experience. These strategies can help you break free from old patterns and live your life based on a sense of meaning and purpose.

Individual therapy provides a unique opportunity to feel seen and understood. My style as a therapist is warm, attuned, and nonjudgmental. I am interested in hearing you and seeing your strengths, gifts, and interests. I am also flexible and pragmatic, and am open to suggestions and feedback.

For parents who would like targeted support with a specific behavior or situation, I offer parent consultations.

Rates:

Free initial consultation (30 minutes)
$100 per individual therapy session (50 minutes)
$100 per parent consultation (50 minutes)

The Highly Sensitive Person

About 15-20% of the population has traits that fit the description of a Highly Sensitive Person. These include being easily overwhelmed, needing to withdraw to recharge, and having a complex inner life. Understanding how to work with these qualities, rather than feel bad about or fight against them, can bring increased self-acceptance, improved relationships, and enhanced creativity. For teenagers, this self-acceptance can have profound impacts on self-development and identity formation. As a Highly Sensitive Person myself, I am attuned to the needs of people who identify with these traits. If you recognize yourself as Highly Sensitive, or suspect you may be, we can integrate this into our work together.

My Qualifications and Experience

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Masters in Community Counseling from Mount Mary University as well as eight years’ experience working as a special education teacher. I am a certified Positive Discipline parent educator and have completed training in EMDR. In addition to my counseling work, I have delivered presentations on trauma and Positive Discipline to teachers, parent groups, and graduate level college classes. My counseling background involves work with adults, children, and adolescents and clinical issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and ADHD.
